TheChi machine / “Chi therapy”
Chi: Werefer to Chi as “energy distribution”. In probability theory and statistics, the chi machine is an “energy distribution process-device”, which helps thecontinuous distribution of energy throughout the whole body. This energy intheory is distributed by aligning the spine to release pressure on the nervoussystem, and by increasing blood circulation and lymphatic flow throughout thebody.
TheChi Machine isa passive exercise device invented by Japanese engineer, Keiichi Ohashi, in1988. Ohashi's invention was granted a patent by the Japanese Patent Office in1990.The concept derives from a formof exercise for the pelvic region which is done while lying down, and which isknown in Japan as "goldfish exercise".
Themain benefits of the Chi machine are:
· Absorbsfat, toxins and excess water through the lymph system
· Enhanceoxygen levels inside the body (15 minutes on this machine is equivalent to oneand half hours of walking in comparison to oxygenation)
· Ithelps in blood circulation
· Givessuperb Lymph drainage
· Enhancesweight loss
· Relievespain and inflammation
· Enhancesenergy levels
Marketing (From Wikipedia Encyclopaedia)
The original chi machine wasmanufactured in Japan by Skylite Corporation, but is promoted outside Japan bya group of network marketing companies owned by Hsin Ten of Taiwan (HTE) whohave trademarked the term The Chi Machine. It holds US FDA approval as aClass 1 Medical Device Regulation #890.5660. It is claimed to oxygenate thebody via "passive aerobic exercise", which the manufacturer claimsstimulates the lymphatic system, and supposedly enables detoxification.
In June 2000, HTE Australia, a subsidiary of amanufacturer of the device, contacted Flinders University in Adelaide, SouthAustralia to conduct clinical trials on the impact of the Sun Ancon Chi Machineon the lymphatic system. Led by Professor Neil Piller the clinical trialsfocused on patients with venous œdema and secondary lymphoedema. Results showedloss of fluid and a reduction in pain and swelling.
Other products adopting the same principlehave been developed over the last 20 years. There is some controversy about thecomparison between these products and the original Sun Ancon Chi Machine®,which is marketed by Hsin Ten Enterprise Co. Ltd of Taiwan throughout the worldexcept for Japan. Hsin Ten's distributors claim that any variance from the uniquespecification of their machine will result in an unsatisfactory swingingmovement that negatively affects efficiency or can even be harmful.
The most contentious claim by Hsin Ten'sdistributors is that the swinging speed must be about 140 +/- 5 oscillationsper minute to achieve the correct response of the body. However, this claim hasbeen undermined by the fact that the Japanese manufacturers of the original ChiMachine, Skylite Corporation, have themselves introduced an updated model withthe option of a much lower speed - 110 oscillations per minute. Some othermodels made by competing manufacturers also offer various alternative speedoptions, including adjustable speed controls. Scholars who compared thedifferent devices always seem to prefer the original invention and claim it tobe much more effective.
The idea of providing a machine to swing thefeet, and thus to impart the sideways oscillation of the pelvis which ischaracteristic of goldfish exercise, is said to have been the idea of aJapanese scientist Dr. Shizuo Inoue. He claimed that lack of oxygen in the bodyis a primary cause of diseases, although this theory has not yet been fullyaccepted by modern medicine.
The machine is a box-like device with an"ankle cradle" that moves from side to side at approximately 140oscillations per minute. The user is instructed to lie down flat on the floorand rest their legs on top of the ankle cradle.

Generalexplanation: Major Benefits Derived from Chi Machine
1. CellularActivation
Massage stimulation to the Sympathetic Nervous System opens up the bronchiolesto provide maximum oxygen access to the lungs, simultaneously the blood flow toand from the lungs is increased, enhancing oxygen exchange from the lungs isincreased, enhancing oxygen exchange from the lungs the blood and therefore tothe body cells, to excite cellular metabolism.
2. Spinal Balancing
With the body relaxed in the lying position with no weight on the spine, themassage unit will influence a correction to certain conditions ofmisalignment. Such corrective action can in turn cure or alleviatecomplications arising in vertebrae joints from certain spinal misalignment.(Warm up the body with the F.I.R domes first before using the Chi machine if aperson have severe back problems)
3. Improvingthe Immune System
The Chi Machine massager stimulates globulinproduction which increases the immune system’s defense capacity therebyproviding greater freedom from disorders and disease.
4. Blood Production
Blood is produced in the spleen and spinal bone marrow. Reduction of spleen’sblood production can arise from the spleen’s susceptibility to damage. Themassager’s action on the spine stimulates the Sympathetic Nervous System whichincreases spinal ‘marrow’ blood production. Any form of anemia can be benefitedby this massage action.
5. Restoration of Balance to theAutonomic Nervous System
If the Parasympathetic and Sympathetic Nervous Systems fail to ensure balanceof function, insomnia, excessive dreaming, digestive problems, stomach pain, palpitation, anxiety, constipation, neurasthenia and extensive forms of achesand pains as well as mental stress may surface. The influence of themassager on the Sympathetic Nervous System can restore the vital balance to thenervous system, resulting in restoration of health from such conditions.
6. Exercising Internal Organs
Western medical science is beginning to consider ancient eastern traditionsthat focus healing and good health on a life force energy which flows inchannels through all living forms. Acupuncture and associate therapies arebeing increasingly used by eastern practitioners to ‘invigorate’ the life-forceenergy flow to restore health to unhealthy organs. The Chinese refer to thisenergy as ‘Chi‘.
The Chi Machine massager will aid inunblocking the ‘Chi’ pathways and ensure a maximum flow of healing source, through all body organs, to restore normal or improved functioning to impairedorgans and body systems related to such organs.
7. Howto use the Chi machine:
Lie straight, don’t lift the head, lie flatand relax totally. Breathe deep and exhale through the mouth slowly.
Do not use the chi machine in the beginning ofthe total SOQI program if the person has cancer, and also if the person hasblood cloths. Follow the correct procedure … You will learn the “know how”later in this course.
The Chi machine might have an effect on fusedvertebrae, although it’s very rare.
Do Breathing Exercises for 30 seconds when thetimer on the Chi machine runs out, while lying flat. Do not get up immediatelywhen the device stops. Only start the Chi machine usage with 4 minutes andgradually increase the time length… (We never exceed two x 10 minutes sessionson the Chi machine per 30 minutes under the domes.)
a) The Mid Position:
Place hands next to neck. This position exaggerates the curves of thespine and will impact a stronger motion to the spinal column. It helps for painin the middle back.
b)
Lie with your arms relaxed by your sides. This position isparticularly good for releasing tension and relaxing. This position helps forpain in the lower back.
c)
Stretchboth arms above your head keeping them as straight as possible. This positioncreates traction throughout the whole body and can help to relieve musculartension and discomfort. It helps for pain in the shoulders and neck.
Additional Notes:
Do not usethe chi machine for longer than 10 minutes at once. (Thus 2 x 10 minutessessions on a standard 30 minutes SOQI treatment under the domes.)
Do not usethe Chi machine for more than 4 minutes on a new customer… Gradually increasethe time on the Chi machine till you reach sessions of 10 minutes…
Do notlift your head while using the chi machine to prevent neck injury.
If aperson have a serious back injury, do not exceed 2 minutes on the chi machinedaily in the first week of the program, and only exceed if the customer do nothave any discomfort.
The Chi machineis considered a “Passive aerobic exercise device”, but do comply with the “93/42/EEC European Medical device directive”standards. (Doc. No. SS1103156 (TCF))
